Ester Pastorello

Ester Pastorello(Director 1927-1933)
(Montagnana, 1884 - Padua, 1971)

Graduated in literature in 1907, at the beginning of 1909 she was appointed under librarian in Venice, a city which she devoted numerous historical-bibliographical including the following volumes: Tipografi, Editori, Librai a Venezia nel secolo XVI (Firenze, Olschki, 1924; location: Misc. 4 1463 17 e Papia D 335) L'Inventario cronologico de l'epistolario manuziano (1483-1597) (Firenze, Olschki, 1931; location: Misc. 4 1490 14)

In 1925 she passed to direct the Library of Gorizia and two years later the Library of Pavia. In 1933 in Modena she was both director and regional superintendent, as well as in Palermo (1935) and Turin (1938 to 1948).

In Pavia, she devoted herself to the reorganization of services and the accommodation of some collections, publishing L'esposizione permanente dei cimeli bibliografici della R. Biblioteca Universitaria di Pavia (in "Ticinum. Rivista mensile illustrata della città e della provincia di Pavia". 15 novembre 1931, anno I, n. 12; location: Direzione) e il Catalogo delle pubblicazioni periodiche. 1931 (Milano, Roma, Treves, 1932; location: Papia C 23606, Papia C 23668 e Papia C 23669).

In 1928 she participated to the organization of the World Congress of Libraries held in Rome the following year. For the occasion, she published, anonymously, the catalogue of the exhibition held in Venice, Cento belle legature italiane esposte nella Biblioteca Naz. Marciana di Venezia (Roma, La libreria dello stato, 1929; location: Misc. 4 1468 18).

She left part of her books and her papers to the Marciana Library.
