Carlo Pertusati
(Milano, 1674 - 1755)
Bibliophile and president of the senate of Milan; he collected a library of about 24,000 printed volumes and manuscripts, which (1763) was bought by the Congregation of the State of Lombardy. Recognized for public use with a rescript by Maria Theresa (1770), it was transferred to the building of the college of Brera, once belonged to the already suppressed Society of Jesus; later on the volumes were given in part to the Library, in part to the Braidense.
